“Yeomanettes” of WWI

This group of Yeomen (or “Yeomanettes” as they were more commonly known) was attached to the Naval Reserve in June, 1918. During World War I, women in the Navy filled secretarial and clerical jobs. All uniformed women (other than nurses) were discharged shortly after the end of the war.
