The longest battle

ca. 1780

John Hooglandt, a veteran of the longest battle of the American Revolution, the Battle of Monmouth, was a private in the 1st New Jersey Regiment. He served nine months in the army before being discharged in July 1778. His wife, Anne, filed this illustrated family record as proof of her relationship to John for her widow’s pension.
