The state of Kanawha?

1861

The commissioners appointed by the Convention of West Virginia sent this memorial to the U.S. Senate, where it was read in the Committee on Territories. The document summarizes the August 20, 1861, ordinance calling for the formation of a new state, to be called Kanawha, and describes its boundaries in detail.
