Young Franklin D. Roosevelt

Born in 1882, a young Franklin D. Roosevelt is shown in this photograph dressed for riding. In addition to riding, he enjoyed sailing, fishing, golf, tennis, and hunting. At Groton School he played football and managed the baseball team; at Harvard he participated in crew. He was also a lifelong “birder” and stamp collector.
