On the hunt
Soldiers from the Mexican Punitive Expedition are pictured in May 1916 in front of a bunker-like abode. Earlier that year, General John J. Pershing had led several thousand U.S. troops across the border into Mexico, intending to capture the Mexican revolutionary General Francisco (“Pancho”) Villa and his troops. The expedition ended in February of 1917 with Pancho Villa still at large.
