Kennedy and Gromyko

Soviet Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Gromyko visited President John F. Kennedy on October 18, 1961. After discussing the situation in Berlin, Gromyko finally turned the conversation to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Gromyko claimed that the weapons in Cuba were there only to protect the Cubans from another invasion.
