Supporting the draft

By July 1940 the Nazi army had successfully conquered Poland, Denmark, Norway, Czechoslovakia, Netherlands, France, and Belgium. Japan, as well as Germany, were possible threats to the United States. Citizens of Staten Island, New York, raised the threat of Nazi victories in Europe and Japanese militarism in Asia in their support of a draft.
