Saved!

4/1918

The French ocean liner Sontay was torpedoed by a German submarine on April 16, 1918, while bound for Marseilles from Saloniki. The ship sank quickly, and 45 people, including the captain, were killed. Here, survivors in lifeboats are rescued by a ship responding to the tragedy.
