4/22/1929

This application for a headstone contains valuable information about the life of Pvt. Isaac Looking Back--killed north of Flirey, France, on September 12, 1918. Unmarried and without children, he was buried in an American cemetery. Eleven years later, his father applied to the War Department for a headstone to mark his son's grave.
