The 19th Amendment

5/19/1919

This Congressional resolution, which proposed extending the right to vote to women, became the 19th Amendment to the Constitution when Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify it on August 18, 1920. Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby certified the ratification on August 26, 1920.
