Musician, Singer, and Singing Teacher
Pvt. Francis Adam Drew served 36 months as a fifer in Col. James Reed’s Second New Hampshire Regiment. In civilian life Drew was a musician, singer, and teacher. This illustrated family record was filed in Hannah Drew’s widow’s pension application. Its stylized scene illustrates the 19th-century view that the cemetery was considered the borderland between life and death, time and eternity, and past and future.
